About this video

World Geography Conceptual Series By Akshay Sir

World Geography Conceptual Series by Akshay Sir explains physical and world geography from the basics in 18 videos, in Hindi: the Earth's internal structure, latitude and longitude lines, earthquakes, cyclones and anticyclones, the solar system and planets, the atmosphere and its layers, winds, ocean currents, continents, oceans, climates and landforms.

Unlike list-based topics, world geography needs concepts: why cyclones rotate the way they do, how time zones follow longitudes, what causes earthquakes. These are exactly the questions SSC CGL, RRB NTPC and State PCS ask, and the concepts also make Indian geography (monsoon, rivers, soils) easier to understand.

  • Study first: latitude and longitude, Earth's structure, atmosphere, then cyclones and earthquakes.

Frequently asked questions

What topics does the World Geography series cover?
Earth's internal structure, latitude and longitude, earthquakes, cyclones and anticyclones, the solar system and planets, the atmosphere, winds and ocean currents, continents and oceans, climate types and major landforms, in 18 videos.

Why are cyclones anticlockwise in the Northern Hemisphere?
Because of the Coriolis effect caused by the Earth's rotation, winds moving toward the low-pressure centre of a cyclone are deflected to the right in the Northern Hemisphere, producing anticlockwise rotation; in the Southern Hemisphere the rotation is clockwise. The Cyclone and Anticyclone video explains this with diagrams.

How many world geography questions come in exams?
SSC CGL and RRB NTPC usually ask 1 to 2 world geography questions, often on the solar system, atmosphere, latitudes and longitudes or natural phenomena. State PCS prelims ask more, 3 to 5, including maps of continents and oceans.

Is this series suitable for beginners?
Yes. It starts from the Earth's structure and latitude-longitude basics, assumes no prior knowledge, and is taught in simple Hindi, which makes it suitable for first-time aspirants.
