About this video

Indian Economics By Akshay Sir

Indian Economics by Akshay Sir teaches the economics that competitive exams actually ask, in 9 free Hindi videos: an Introduction to Economics, National Income (with a test video), the Union Budget (बजट), the Five Year Plans, what GST is, and the remaining core topics such as inflation, banking and money, and economic terms.

Economics questions are concept plus fact: what is GDP versus GNP, which plan focused on what, how GST is split between centre and state. The series explains each concept in plain Hindi before the facts, so you can answer both the definition questions of SSC and Railway and the slightly deeper questions of Bank and State PCS exams.

  • Concept shorts: the 5 Minute Concept Series (GDP, Fiscal Deficit, Tariff, FDI, Rate Cut) is a quick companion on CrazyGkTrick.
  • Current link: Budget and GST changes are tracked in the current affairs series each year.

Frequently asked questions

How many economics questions come in SSC CGL?
SSC CGL Tier 1 asks about 3 to 4 economics questions, typically on national income concepts, the Budget, GST, banking terms, five-year plans and economic organisations. Bank PO prelims and State PCS ask more.

What is national income?
National income is the total value of goods and services produced by a country's residents in a year, measured as GDP, GNP, NNP or per-capita income depending on what is included. The National Income video explains each measure with examples and is followed by a test video.

What is GST in simple words?
GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a single indirect tax, introduced on 1 July 2017, that replaced many central and state taxes; it is collected as CGST and SGST within a state and IGST on inter-state sales, and decided by the GST Council. The What is GST video covers the structure and exam facts.

Are five-year plans still relevant for exams?
Yes. Although planning ended with the 12th plan in 2017 and NITI Aayog replaced the Planning Commission in 2015, questions on plan objectives, years and models still appear regularly in SSC, Railway and State exams.
